Technology Advisory Subscriptions

Today, the bulk of Fiber Planners' work is in two areas. First we do turnkey planning, training and installation supervision work for smaller, less experienced utilities. Additionally, Fiber Planners performs special engineering studies and projects for large utilities and fiber cable manufacturers.

We stay in touch with clients years after their installations are completed, gathering practical feedback on what works over time and what doesn't. We offer a lifetime 24-hour free help-line service for our design clients after project completion – and they use it! From this experience, for instance, we've learned how to better anticipate future pole-mounted transformer maintenance in determining ADSS attachment locations.

Recently, we have fielded inquiries about more casual consulting arrangements for larger utilities that allow them to take advantage of our experience base without committing to use us for a specific project. These companies have in-house staffs that normally handle all of their fiber design work, but they have technical questions that come up from time to time. In response to this, we have developed our Technology Advisory Subscription.

In a nutshell, subscribers pay an annual retainer fee of $955 per year. In exchange, they receive up to 10 hours of free consulting time each year as well as receiving technical bulletins on various fiber-related topics as they are released. Additional work beyond this 10 hours is billed at a discount off our normal daily or per-design-mile rates.

Most of this work can be done by Fed Ex, phone or e-mail. If travel is involved, we bill it separately at our cost.

Subscriptions can be ordered and paid for using checks or Internet transfer (PayPal) and we do accept company purchase orders. If desired for accounting purposes, we also can break our invoicing into quarterly or monthly installments.
