Materials testing/replicating field failures

Several independent test labs, such as Kinectrics (affiliated with Ontario's Hydro One utility), can test materials to industry standards such as the IEEE standards for fiber optic cable and hardware. Such tests are usually conducted at the vendor's expense to prove materials meet the standards. (Fiber Planners, in fact, requires all fiber cable vendors submit such reports from independent test labs before putting them on our approved list.) Many vendors also have in-house test lab capabilities.

If desired by a client, Fiber Planners can witness such tests at either manufacturer or independent labs as an independent observer.

As part of a failure analysis, we can also setup custom tests at independent labs to replicate actual field conditions and prove the actual mode of failure.
